For the past few years, all the golfers in my family have enjoyed getting together for an annual Family Holiday Golf Tournament. My oldest son and I along with my brother-in-law, his son and my niece’s long time boyfriend played at the Apollo Beach Golf Course in Apollo Beach, Florida located just a few miles south of Tampa. Although we enjoyed spending the quality time together, it was a very dissapointing golf day to say the least. For the price of the green fees, the course was in terrible condition. The fairways, greens and bunkers all needed a lot of TLC. It’s been several years since returning to play here and I’ve never seen the course in this condition.
Last night my family and I had dinner at the Jasmine Thai Restaurant in Brandon, Florida with an old Blackhorse buddy of mine that I have not seen in 40 years. He also brought along his family. We were stationed together with the 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment in Vietnam in 1968. We spent the entire evening just reminiscing and looking at photos he had of our time there. It felt so good to have reunited once again with an old friend. We started a new collection of memory photos and vowed to reunite again in the near future. The food at the restaurant was excellent, service was great, and the restrooms were among the cleanest I’ve ever been in. I recommend it highly for anyone who enjoys Thai cuisine.
